Planned Maintenance Program

Extended Sweeper Life · Lower Repair Costs

Floor sweepers that run in high-debris environments accumulate wear fast. A structured PM program keeps brushes, filters, hoppers, and drive components in spec — catching problems before they cause unplanned downtime or shorten the machine’s lifespan.

  • Brush wear inspection and replacement scheduling
  • Dust filter cleaning, testing, and replacement
  • Hopper, flap, and debris channel inspection
  • Battery, drive, and mechanical system checks

Full Equipment Reconditioning

Like-New Performance · Extend Service Life

Older sweepers with good structural bones but heavy mechanical wear don’t always need to be replaced. Our technicians can rebuild your machine from the brush deck up — restoring sweep performance, extending service life, and saving you significantly over the cost of new equipment.

  • Full brush deck inspection and rebuild
  • Hopper system overhaul and seal replacement
  • Drive motor and traction system reconditioning
  • Dust control system cleaning and restoration

Sweeper Systems Our Technicians Fix

Floor sweepers have a distinct set of mechanical systems from scrubbers. Our technicians know them inside and out — from cylindrical brush decks to debris hoppers and dust suppression systems.

Main Brush & Side Brush Systems

Brush motor failures, worn or broken brush filaments, brush adjustment and pressure issues, and side brush arm damage. The brush deck is the heart of the sweeper — worn or misadjusted brushes mean debris gets pushed instead of swept.

Debris Hopper & Dump Mechanism

Hopper door seals, worn flap deflectors, failed dump actuators, and debris channel blockages. A compromised hopper means debris falls back onto the floor mid-operation — defeating the purpose of sweeping entirely.

Dust Filter & Dust Control Systems

Clogged or damaged primary and secondary filters, failed dust shaker mechanisms, and broken filter housing seals. When the dust system fails, fine particulates escape back into the air — a safety and compliance issue in regulated environments.

Battery & Electrical Systems

Battery capacity loss, charging system faults, motor controller issues, and wiring failures on battery-electric walk-behind and rider sweepers. We service both lead-acid and lithium battery platforms and carry common electrical components in stock.

Drive & Traction Systems

Traction motor failures, drive wheel slipping, transaxle issues, and steering problems on rider sweepers. We diagnose both electronic and mechanical traction faults and carry replacement drive components for the brands we service.

Gas & LPG Engine Service

Carburetor and fuel system repairs, ignition issues, engine tune-ups, and propane system service on gas and LPG-powered rider sweepers used on loading docks, outdoor concrete, and high-demand industrial applications.

Common Questions About Floor Sweeper Repair

Yes. We repair and maintain floor sweepers regardless of where they were purchased. In addition to the Factory Cat, PowerBoss, and Minuteman machines we sell, we service sweepers by Tennant, Nilfisk, Clarke, Advance, Karcher, and most other major brands. Reach out with your machine’s make and model and we’ll let you know how we can help.

Poor debris pickup is one of the most common sweeper complaints and usually comes down to a few likely causes: worn or incorrectly adjusted main brush filaments, a damaged or misaligned side brush, a compromised hopper flap that’s letting debris fall back out, or a brush motor that’s losing torque. In some cases it’s as simple as a brush that needs to be lowered. Our technicians will diagnose the specific cause and get your machine collecting cleanly again.

Yes — and it’s worth addressing promptly, especially in facilities with air quality regulations. Visible dust during operation almost always means the dust filter is clogged, torn, or has a failed seal allowing fine particles to bypass the filtration system. The dust shaker mechanism (on machines that have one) may also have failed, preventing the filter from cleaning itself between passes. We’ll inspect the full dust control system and restore proper containment.

Both options are available. Walk-behind sweepers are easy to transport and often turn around faster in our shop. Large rider sweepers are more practical to service on-site, and we can dispatch a technician to your location throughout North and South Carolina. When you contact us, we’ll talk through which approach makes more sense given your machine type, urgency, and location.

Service frequency depends heavily on how hard the machine works and what type of debris it’s handling. Light commercial use in a school or retail environment might warrant a PM visit every six months. A sweeper running daily in a foundry or metal fabrication plant handling heavy industrial debris should be inspected far more frequently — quarterly at minimum, with brush and filter checks in between. We’ll recommend a schedule based on your actual usage and operating environment.

We stock commonly needed sweeper wear parts — brushes, filters, flap deflectors, and other high-turnover components — for the Factory Cat, PowerBoss, and Minuteman machines we sell. For less common parts or specific model variants, we have direct access to each manufacturer’s parts supply and can source what you need quickly. You can also request parts through our parts request form or order directly through Bortek Shop.

We’ll give you a straight answer on this. A sweeper with a single failed component — a brush motor, a battery pack, a hopper actuator — is almost always worth repairing. A machine with a corroded frame, a worn-out drive system, and multiple failing components at once may not be worth the investment. Our technicians will assess the overall condition and give you an honest cost-versus-replacement analysis so you can make the right call for your budget.

Minuteman Floor Sweeper Repair

Minuteman sweeper operators throughout North and South Carolina can count on us for authorized service and genuine replacement parts. Minuteman walk-behind and rider sweepers are common in schools, retail facilities, healthcare buildings, and light industrial environments. Preventive Maintenance for Floor Sweepers

Sweepers operating in heavy debris environments — foundries, metal fabrication shops, food processing facilities, high-volume warehouses — experience accelerated wear on brushes, filters, and hopper components. A structured preventive maintenance program addresses this wear proactively, catching failing parts before they cause a breakdown and keeping the machine’s collection efficiency at its best. We customize PM schedules around your machine’s specific usage intensity and debris conditions rather than applying a generic timetable.

Floor Sweeper Parts

In addition to repair services, we supply genuine OEM replacement parts for Factory Cat, PowerBoss, and Minuteman floor sweepers. Brushes, dust filters, hopper flap deflectors, side brush assemblies, drive belts, and electrical components are available through our parts request process. Reach out with your machine’s make, model, and part number and we’ll source what you need. Parts can also be ordered directly through Bortek Shop.
